Wouldn't you like to be somewhere warm Away from the norm Wouldn't you like to get away from the street Feel the sand on your feet Somewhere on a beach Wouldn't you like to erase all your fear Just hold a shell to your ear Listen to the sound of a part that you left behind in a hurry What's the hurry Wouldn't like to feel there's somewhere calm In the eye of the storm Wouldn't you like to be part of the ebb and flow Just let yourself go Forget about the city Forget about the grey Forget about the madness Touch the spray Remember what you started Remember what you crave Lay back, close your eyes Feel the breeze Somewhere on a beach Beautiful life, we can just be This is so right, this is what's real Listen to the sound maybe you remember as a child And stay for a while Stay, stay Remember what you started Remember what you crave Lay back, close your eyes Somewhere on a beach Beautiful life, this is so right, Beautiful life, we can just be This is so right, this is what's real Wouldn't like to be somewhere calm Wouldn't you like to be somewhere warm Listen to the sound of the sea Wouldn't you like to erase all your fear Come with me Somewhere on a beach

I got everything I want I got a job, I got a car I got a house full of naked floors and terracotta walls I got everything I want I got some crazy friend, money to spend A brand new laptop the size of my hand but oh Have I got everything I want See I've been caught in a haze in my yellow shades Ain't been myself for days and days and days I don't want to leave the city But I've got to leave the city I know it's what I need 'cause I can't even breath So I've got to leave the city for a while See I don't want you to get me wrong I love the all night food and coffee bars And 15 wide screen cinemas But I can only stay for so long To take it all in, to check it out I need some space to think about it I don't want to leave the city But I've got to leave the city I know it's what I need 'cause I can't even breath So I've got to leave the city I don't want to leave the city But I've got to leave the city For a while Somewhere where the air is fresh and clean Maybe somewhere I've never been I don't want to be another one sitting alone waiting for the phone to ring But you won't call, you won't call I don't want to leave the city But I've got to leave the city I know it's what I need 'cause I can't even breath So I've got to leave the city I don't want to leave the city But I've got to leave the city For a while For a while

Release, quiet I'm leaving in private You can't come where I'm going Where there's no way of knowing And I couldn't hide it I've been pleading in private To be free somehow And you can't hurt me now Hurt me now Pain, don't fight it All the grieving in private Space is all we need Time enough to heal And I can't stay Don't like leaving this way There's more to do somehow And you can do it now You can do it now Be still I'm losing my will To stay, breath a sigh Fade and cry Say goodbye Say a prayer And see me fly

You can fly without ever leaving the ground I like to fly I like to fly within the sound Diabolical sound (It makes sense of everything) Make it darker High Talking next to Lucy in the sky (Sugarfly) Oh, I'm (I don't think you're quite hearing me) so high Diamonds sparkling brightly in my eyes (Sugarfly) Oh I Get by Sugarfly Sugarfly TIme was sweet so short but fine It's hard for me to let my summer die Invite the league of nations here to dine Everybody is happy to be breaking bread with wine Get by Sugarfly Sugarfly TIme was sweet so short but fine It's hard for me to let my summer die Sugarfly I don't think you're quite hearing me I said make it darker Darker

We're in the dark about so many things No one know what tomorrow brings Although we think our minds are free We're not the way we're meant to be Companies are manipulation Damaging our generations Hot tears from a furnace of pain How can it change if we don't complain Prophecies, sign, revelations I'm just one with the will to try I don't wanna die sleepwalking Sleepwalking We don't seem to care what we harm Living like superstars And though it's hard to face We need to find a way to a better place Wake up Although my dream seems so very far away I realise that there's more to understand And it's time, someone has to pave the way Got to make a move today (We need to find a better place) Companies are manipulation.... Sleepwalking Although it's hard to face We need to find a better place

Sidewinder Sliders in the sand tragically maps in hand Routes previously taken, no thought of deviation Ghosts in the storm propel them from the norm To reveal the lateral state before it's too little too late Sidewinder Sidewinder Search the realms of your desire Your heart is the true fire Sidewinder All eyes upon you, never stray far from you Beware how you continue, try to ride the journey within you Your course will be never be straight nor lead to heaven's gate But it ain't ever easy to reach that happy eternal mind state Search the realms of your desire so your dreams to take you high For in essence, your heart is the true fire Sidewinder Sidewinder Search the realms of your desire Your heart is the true fire Sidewinder Sidewinder Sidewinder Search the realms of your desire Your heart is the true fire Sidewinder Sliders in the sand Let your dreams take you high

about

This is a collection of collaborations I did in 1997/98. I was just at the end of The Drop album which had failed in its bid for world domination! I was picking myself up, looking for something else to do, looking for a new angle.

I started writing with the excellently talented Nash (who eventually signed with Go Beat!) beginning with Somewhere On A Beach. Worked with dancer singer songwriter and poet Lucy Dixon and we wrote Just One Thing (no permission so sadly not featured here).

I also worked with a mate Clinton Baugh, dancer & DJ never realising what a poet he was, and that voice! You'll here it on Sugarfly and Sidewinder (my bond theme if ever they make one with that name!). Dee Ellington and I wrote Sleepwalking. Such a tidal wave of creativity!

We performed the songs live at the Subterania as part of the '98 Portobello Festival in Ladbroke Grove, London. The event showcased the songs married with dance, spoken word, hip hop, video, signing; a full multi media experience!

I wanted to take it on the road, tour it, release it. But record companies were wary of it - too many artists to deal with, too expense, too unwieldy. So it's been collecting digital dust on the shelf since then.

So here it is, The Sidewinder Project. We had so much fun making these tracks, so much creativity, much love went into them. It is of its time and as it was only originally recorded on 16 track 1/4 inch tape (demo quality), I'm giving it to you as a free download! Enjoy!
